This main issue locomotive cover features the set of eight Royal Navy Ships stamps and depicts the Southern Railway 4-6-0 express steam locomotive 'Lord Nelson' named after the victor at the Batte of Trafalgar whose flagship 'HMS Victory' is depicted in this stamp issue. The locomotive was the first in a class of 16 named after English admirals through the ages, which were designed for pre-war continental boat trains from Victoria and south-western expresses from Waterloo.
