On February 15th 1971, the UK's currency went decimal in the greatest numismatic change for over 300 years. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of 'Decimal Day', as it was known, the Royal Mint has issued a new 50p coin, designed by Dominique Evans, which features overlapping pre-decimal coins with the date '1971' at the centre of the deisgn. The new coin is encapsulated in a fine cover depicting the impressive upper-façade of the Bank of England with two 1st class coin Definitives from the 2012 Diamond Jubilee Miniature sheet with a Decimal Day 50, Windsor handstamp.
