Royal Mail are once again celebrating the Marvel Universe, this time with a stamp issue paying tribute to mutant superheroes, the X-Men. Generations have grown up with these timeless superheroes in comic books and more recently in hugely successful movies. The X-Men franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023 with their first comic book appearance in the X-Men #1 in 1963.
The twelve stamps, illustrated exclusively for Royal Mail by British comic book artist Mike McKone, celebrate some of the most popular X-Men superheroes: 2nd class - Professor X, Kitty Pryde, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Cyclops; 1st class - Wolverine, Jean Grey, Iceman, Storm, Beast and Rogue.
The coin cover encapsulates a 1963 half penny coin and bears a Power Drive, Enfield handstamp.
