Royal Mail are once again celebrating the Marvel Universe, this time with a stamp issue paying tribute to mutant superheroes, the X-Men. Generations have grown up with these timeless superheroes in comic books and more recently in hugely successful movies. The X-Men franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023 with their first comic book appearance in the X-Men #1 in 1963.
The miniature sheet comprises four 1st class stamps plus a £1.85 stamp, featuring five of the mutant enemies of the X-Men: Juggernaut, Mystique, Magneto, Emma Frost and Sabretooth. The sheet has been illustrated exclusively for Royal Mail by British comic book artist Lee Garbett.
The coin cover encapsulates a 2001 Sierra Leone $1 Tiger coin from the Big Cats of the World series and bears a Jackman Avenue, Heywood handstamp.
