Royal Mail are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the publication of the first Discworld book, The Colour of Magic, by Sir Terry Pratchett OBE who is considered to be one of the UK's greatest fantasy writers.
The set of eight stamps feature artwork by Terry Pratchett's illustrator Paul Kirby, depicting characters from the series: Rincewind (1st class), Moist Von Lipwig (1st class), The Librarian (£1.00), Granny Weatherwax (£1.00), Sam Vines (£2.00), Death and Mort (£2.00), Tiffany Aching (£2.20) and Great A'Tuin (£2.20).
The Gold 500 cover image is framed by a 22ct gold-blocked border and bears a Morpork Street, Wincanton handstamp - in 2002 Wincanton was twinned with Ankh-Morpork, the world's first ever town twinning with a fictional place. Numbered limited edition of 500.
