This Royal Mail issue celebrates 100 years since the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb by British archaeologist Howard Carter.
The miniature sheet, comprising four stamps, focuses on the discovery of Tutankhamun's Tomb. The sheet and stamps feature photographs taken by Harry Burton, the only photographer allowed to work inside the tomb during the excavation. The background of the miniature sheet is a photo of the entrance to the tomb and the stamps show: Objects in the antechamber (1st class), Head of the outermost coffin (1st class), Examining the innermost coffin (£1.85) and Moving small shrine to laboratory (£1.85).
This BLCS 5000 cover bears a Dorchester handstamp and has been signed by actor Jonathan Aris who starred in the series 'Tutankhamun' playing egyptologist Hubert Winlock.
