This Royal Mail issue commemorates the Royal Marines and is the next in the series on the British Armed Forces. The set of eight stamps focus on the different types of operations taken on by the elite forces: Aviation (1st class), Cold-weather (1st class), Mountain (1st class), Arid-climate (1st class), Commando Training (£1.85), Band Service (£1.85), Amphibious (£1.85) and Maritimes Security (£1.85).
The Gold 500 cover image is framed by a 22ct gold-blocked border. The cover bears a Whitehall, London handstamp. Numbered limited edition of 500.
