The Visions of the Universe issue depicts eight spectacular natural phenomena which have been observed from the Earth since the foundation of the Royal Astronomical Society 200 years ago. The images include the Cat's Eye Nebula discovered by Sir William Herschel, first president of the RAS and Cygnus A galaxy - the first radio source discovered beyond our own galaxy.
The GOLD 500 cover complements the stamps with a dramatic image of a Black Hole framed by a detailed 22ct gold-blocked astronomical design, and a pictorial Oxford handstamp. A numbered limited edition of 500.
