The Visions of the Universe issue depicts eight spectacular natural phenomena which have been observed from the Earth since the foundation of the Royal Astronomical Society 200 years ago. The images include the Cat's Eye Nebula discovered by Sir William Herschel, first president of the RAS and Cygnus A galaxy - the first radio source discovered beyond our own galaxy.

The cover features an image of Herschel's forty-foot relecting telescope and has been signed by television presenter Dallas Campbell who is well known for presenting the BBC series 'Bang Goes The Theory'.
