The centenary of Britain's longest continually running comic strip is celebrated in an issue of four se-tenant pairs of colourful stamps, depicting the hero and his friends in scenes from four classic stories complete with their characteristic rhyming couplets.
The commemorative stamps are printed in horizontal se-tenant pairs of four values: 2nd class; 1st class; £1.45 and £1.70. The images are taken from four classic stories from past years featuring the main characters.
This cover celebrates Mary Tourtel, the strip's first artist, with an image of the plaque on the house in Canterbury where she spent the last years of her life. This image is framed by an intricate 22ct gold-blocked design and the cover also carries an informative cachet. This sparkling cover is completed by a Rupert Crescent, Leicestershire handstamp. Numbered limited edition of 500.
