The nation’s favourite soap opera became the world’s longest-running TV soap opera in 2010. And now its 60th anniversary is commemorated in eight stamps – 2 x 2nd class, 2 x 1st class; 2 x £1.42 and 2x £1.63 – each of which show two characters from its long history with a representative quote summing up their relationship.
The BLCS 5000 matches the stamps with a characteristic inner city skyline of terraced houses and TV aerials which has featured, in one form or another, in the programme's opening title sequence and bears a Coronation Street, Crewe pictorial handstamp.
