For the fourth stamp issue of five commemorating the centenary of The Great War, six key themes are explored and include Poppies, Poetry, War Art, Memorials and Artefacts. This issue features a shattered poppy, a quotation from ‘Dead man’s Dump’ by Isaac Rosenberg, nurses Elsie Knocker and Mairi Chisholm, ‘Dry Docked for Scaling and Painting’ by Edward Wadsworth, Tyne Cot Cemetery in Belgium and the Bible which saved the life of Private Lemuel Rees by deflecting an enemy bullet.
This set of six covers complements each stamp with an appropriate image and handstamp.
