A striking, superbly designed Benham 100 cover celebrates this anniversary. Two stamps and labels from the Royal Mail 'By Land, By Sea' commemorative sheet tied by a Portsmouth handstamp on the 350th anniversary date surmount the cover, which also carries the six Ascension Island commemorative depicting Royal Marine soldiers throughout their long and honourable history. These fine stamps flank an image of the Deal Barracks - inspired by the 65p stamp - specially built for the Corps after the outbreak of the French Revolution. The stamps are tied by a pair of informative cachets for the barracks' history and the bomb attack which took place 25 years ago in September 1989.
