His first overseas visit was to the UK to attend the G20 meeting on 1st April 2009, during which he was invited for an informal meeting with HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty and HRH The Prince Philip entertained The President and the First Lady at Buckingham Palace on 1st April 2009. This was their first meeting and although it was entirely informal, it laid the foundation for more formal future meetings and discussions.
